Waterborne was established by Patrick (Pat) W. Holden and W. Martin (Marty) Williams  in 1993 with the vision to provide superior consulting services in the areas of environmental science and water resources management,  The company has grown significantly from its original size and boasts a stable staff of highly experienced scientists and engineers.  The company now provides global service in the areas of ecological risk assessment, field studies and data collection, environmental modeling, ecotoxicology and toxicology support, geospatial analysis and data analysis in a variety of business sectors.

Innovation, Growth and Sustainability

Waterborne was bolstered by its founders’ extensive knowledge in agriculture, water resources, and sustainability, and got its start in the heavily regulated area of agro-chemical risk assessment. Building on core services, the company has steadily grown their specialized knowledge about chemical transport, environmental risk, and stewardship to span other markets—such as personal care products, pharmaceuticals and industrial and specialty chemicals.  Our intimate knowledge of regulatory procedures and our reputation as unbiased scientists allows us to anticipate how product registration applications will be received and negotiate accordingly between clients and regulatory agencies.

Leadership and the Future

Co-founder Pat Holden served as President through 2010, and retired May 1, 2017, at the beginning of the company’s 25th year. Pat continues to sit on the Board of Directors. Marty Williams served as President from 2011 through Feb 2017, and as Chief Executive Officer from 2019 to 2021. Marty now sits on the Board of Directors and is highly involved in with strategic planning, technical advisement, and preservation of the company Vision Statement. In 2021, Waterborne welcomed Paul Barboza to lead the company into the future as our new Chief Executive Officer. Today, the Principals and Team Leads in the company are Amy Ritter, Nathan Snyder, Jennifer Trask, and Jennifer Collins.
